Angelle Materials is more than just your local ready mix concrete supplier. When an employee joins our company, they become part of the Angelle family. When Iesha Smith joined Angelle as a ready-mix driver, it didn’t take her long to realize Angelle’s caring workplace culture. Her supervisors understood the challenges she faced as a single mom and accommodated her needs so she could still work while also being there for her daughter.

“When I finished CDL school, I didn’t have a lot of job opportunities because I had to be home every night,” said Iesha. “Realizing my struggle, Angelle worked with me to give me the flexibility that I needed to provide for my daughter and to be able to tuck her in bed at night. I have come a long way from not having a roof over our heads to now searching for a forever home for me and my daughter. My advice to single moms out there – never give up on yourself. You can cry in the rain and scream in the thunder, but you will always get through the storm, I promise you that.”

Sherwine Cooper is a ready-mix driver for Angelle. She says a big accomplishment she is most proud of was moving into her forever home with her two younger children. She said reaching this goal would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the selfless support she received at Angelle.

“Angelle has really helped me as a single mom,” said Sherwine. “It feels great to stand on my own two feet and be able to accomplish as much as I have in the year that I have been here. I couldn’t have done it if it was not for an understanding employer like Angelle. I work hard, and I feel appreciated at this company. This is by far the best stress-free company I’ve ever worked for.”

Debra Anderson is blessed to work for a company where she feels valued. Since joining Angelle as a plant manager, Angelle has given her the resources to grow in her career and support her family.

“Angelle has given me the skills and knowledge to succeed and the ability to provide for my family,” said Debra. “My journey as a single mother started out rough. I set a path for myself, and it’s been up from there. I had three daughters. My first daughter passed away at 2 years old and I assumed the responsibility of my brother’s son and raised him as my own. Being a single parent is not easy, but I am grateful to have a very close family where all of us try so hard to stick together.”

T’sha Green’s struggle as a single mom taught her how to become an independent person. She is able to support herself and daughter thanks to the support she received from her Angelle family. She has moved up in her career after taking advantage of the many opportunities available here.

“Angelle gave me the opportunity to learn different things about the concrete industry and gave me opportunities to grow and advance in my career,” said T’sha. “I started out as an RM driver and worked my way up to a trainer/safety NRMCA certified coordinator. My journey as a single mother has taught me to be an independent woman. Angelle helped me achieve independence so I can provide for me and my daughter, Jaiyah. The best advice I have for single moms is to always believe in yourself, never give up no matter what, and push yourself to always be better.”
