For the past six years, Joe has been a driver for Angelle Materials. It’s a job he says has allowed him to do many different things and brought him many opportunities. “If I didn’t want to drive the ready-mix truck anymore, I could go do something different,” says Joe. “I like that I have opportunities to move around and learn. It is definitely one of the reasons I have stayed with Angelle and why I plan on staying for many more years.”
He explains how management has been very supportive of him during him tenure with the company and recently gave him a new Angelle truck to drive because of how clean he kept him previous one. “Management noticed what I was doing and it meant a lot. I felt like the work and dedication I put into my job was being recognized.”
The support from leadership at Angelle didn’t stop there. Joe was grateful when he realized their investment in him didn’t stop at the truck he drove. They took the time to invest in him personally as well. Recently Joe’s car broke down and he needed to purchase a new one, but he still owed on that car. He wasn’t sure what he was going to do. Through the Meet the Needs program, a program that helps employees going through difficult times to get back on their feet, Angelle worked with Joe to come up with a solution and advanced him the money to buy a new car.
“They were really helping me come up with all kind of solutions to not be in the same situation I was in. They gave me the down payment for my new car and are giving me plenty of time to pay it back,” said Joe. “It makes me feel like whenever I need help, I can go to them. This is the first time I have had an employer do something good like this. Everyone goes through stuff and it is nice to know you have an employer you can fall back on in hard times.”
Joe has made lots of great memories so far being a driver for Angelle. But, there is one pour he says he will never forget. Joe remembers, “we poured a church slab one morning and they put bibles down before we poured the slab. The bibles are actually in the concrete. It was such a cool thing to witness and something I will never forget.”
Joe plans on driving for Angelle for many years to come. He feels like the investment Angelle makes in him to help him better himself each day is a huge blessing for him. “I just love my job and the company I work for.”
