This is a big benefit for the hourly workers when weather has a big impact on the consistency of their hours. For eligible employees (after 90 days of consecutive employment), each employee is guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week. Our schedules are dependent on weather and when it’s consistently raining employees may work as little as 5-10 hours in an impacted week. We cover the difference with hours that are essentially “given” to them. There are performance requirements to maintain eligibility, but they’re simple like be available for work, no unexcused absences, no safety violations, etc.
We also work with tenured employees through a “Meet The Need” program to help out employees experiencing financial hardship – we have provided loans to employees, allowed them to cash out vacation, etc to pay for sudden large expenses such as home or auto repairs, medical expenses, down payments for apartments, etc.
